Magigoo PA

MAGIGOO PA is designed for professional use, to work exclusively with Polyamide filaments. The part should be relatively easy to remove once it cools and the glue residue should also be easily cleaned off.

WHY: PA (polyamide) describes a group of polymers with an amide repeat unit. Generally in the FDM industry there are 3 main types of PA which include PA12, PA6,6 and PA6, sometimes these materials can be either grafted with other polymers or else reinforced with glass or carbon fibres. Generally nylons exhibit high strength, toughness, elasticity, wear resistance, chemical resistance and thermal resistance and are widely sought in various industrial applications.

Nylon filaments prove to be challenging materials for FDM printing due to their lower adhesion to conventional 3D-printing build surfaces and their higher tendency to warp. Furthermore there are several classes of PA filaments each behaving differently. MAGIGOO-PA is a specialized solution for FDM printing of PA filaments which was developed to work with a wide number of PA types

HOW: MAGIGOO PA has been designed and tested to work with different PA and fibre reinforced filament brands.

  •         Shake the bottle.
  •         Apply to the desired area by pressing the nib on the bed (activating the inner valve) and spreading as needed.
  •         Print according to the filament/printer manufacturers recommendations
  •         Allow to cool and Remove. The print should pop right off
  •         Clean - Use a damp cloth to wipe off.

MAGIGOO PC is designed to work exclusively with polycarbonate type filaments. This adhesive for professional use makes sure prints stick firmly when the print-bed is hot and that the part is easy to remove once it cools. This unique and innovative mechanism means that no tools are needed to remove prints from the bed. They just pop off when the bed cools down.

WHY: The strength and toughness of PC make it an ideal FDM material for the production of functional prototypes as well as end use part, nonetheless the material does present some printing challenges. Virgin PC has a high glass transition temperature (Tg) and thus can be used in high temperature applications. However, having a high Tg can make it very difficult to print using desktop printers, as these are usually not equipped to cater for the high printing temperatures required to print virgin PC. Virgin PC in fact tends to warp considerably when printed at an insufficient bed temperature (Nonetheless when using these solutions some difficulties are still encountered, firstly with adhesion especially on larger parts still can be an issue. In addition to this some bed adhesion sheets have been proposed to avoid the warp encountered in larger prints, but in this case there is a high tendency that the adhesion sheet being used fuses irreversibly to the print. This means that the expensive sheet needs to be removed very often and also incurs a lot of post processing and cleaning. Magigoo PC can be used on glass or multiple other surfaces. Use on other plastic based surfaces, including sheets is recommended to provide strong adhesion and preventing the part to fuse to the sheet.

 HOW: MAGIGOO PC has been designed and tested to work with different PC filament brands. As the composition of each plastic is a little different, the ideal settings for MAGIGOO PC may vary.

MAGIGOO PP is designed for professional use, to work exclusively with polypropylene filaments. The part should be relatively easy to remove once it cools and the glue residue should also be easily cleaned off if the included procedure is followed.

WHY: Polypropylene (PP) is a thermoplastic semi-crystalline polymer exhibiting properties of good impact resistance and ductility. It also has a relatively non-polar molecular structure which makes it chemical resistant and thus ideal for use in food packaging and medical equipment. It is in fact well known in the adhesive industry that it is difficult to adhere polyolefin materials to other types of materials. This combined by the partial crystallinity makes it an especially hard material to print with. Magigoo PP solves this issue and provides additional convenience for use in FDM 3D Printing. 

HOW: MAGIGOO PP has been designed and tested to work with different PP filament brands.

  • Shake the bottle vigorously.
  • Apply to the desired area by pressing the nib on the bed (activating the inner valve) and spreading as needed.
  • Print according to the filament/printer manufacturers recommendations
  • Allow to cool and Remove – The Part should become easier to remove after sufficient cooling. If the part is hard to remove, a scraper should be used to assist part removal.
  • Clean - Use a wet hard sponge to remove all glue residue. Once the glue layer is wet it will form a white layer which can be easily scrubbed off with an abrasive sponge. Once the layer is completely loose from the glass it can be wiped away with a wet cloth and finally cleaned with a dry paper towel.
